The short answer

Why carrier registration gets stuck, and what fixes it

Carrier registration usually gets stuck for one of three reasons, and each one has a fix. Your business details don't match your records, the campaign type doesn't fit the messages you described, or your sample messages and opt-in steps don't meet carrier rules. For a local number, this is called 10DLC registration.

With Text-Em-All, you fill out the registration form, we cover the cost, and a person walks you through it. When a carrier snags it anyway, twenty-one years of carrier relationships are how we get it unstuck.

Your registration questions, answered

Why was my 10DLC brand registration rejected?

A 10DLC brand registration is usually rejected because the business details on the form don't match the official record: a legal name that differs from the one on your EIN, an old address, or a mistyped tax ID. Send us the correct details so it matches exactly and we can resubmit. If you register with us, we cover the cost and tell you if anything needs to change. No EIN? You can register as an individual instead.

Why was my 10DLC campaign rejected?

A 10DLC campaign is usually rejected because the use case you chose doesn't match your sample messages, or because the carrier can't see how people opted in. Pick the campaign type that describes what you send most, write samples that look like your real messages, and say plainly how people give you their number. Carriers also look for a privacy policy and terms. If you don't have them, start from our templates under "More on carrier registration" at the end of this page.

How long does carrier registration take, and what if mine is stuck?

With Text-Em-All, most registrations are approved in 1 to 2 business days. A registration that takes much longer is usually waiting on missing or incorrect information, so ask your provider whether the carrier has requested anything. If you're planning to start sending around a certain date, leave room. And you don't need to be registered to send automated calls, so you can start sending those the day you sign up.

Can I switch providers in the middle of carrier registration?

Yes. You register again with the provider you send through, so switching means a new registration with us. You fill out our form; we cover the cost. If your earlier attempt was rejected, tell us why so we can fix that first. If you want to keep a number people already know, we can text-enable a number you own.

Before you switch

When we'll say no too

Carrier registration exists to keep spam off people's phones, and we're on the carriers' side of that. If your messages go to purchased lists, or you're after high-volume e-commerce sends, a carrier will turn them down and so will we.
