Since Silicon Valley broke down the barriers within the traditional workplace, the open-office evolution has gained momentum, and as collaborative work environments emerge, it can be said with confidence that there has never been a better time to seize upon the benefits.

Nevertheless, there’s a new trend going around that continually bashes on the open-office concept. We often hear the same fallacies and misunderstandings again and again. It’s unproductive. It’s hectic. Collaboration is mandatory. But, before you start criticizing, it's important to ask: What’s your mission for the layout?
If your mission is to jam-pack as many employees into one space to lower cost, then yeah, it’s going to be awful! But, if your mission is to foster collaboration as well as create a platform that promotes company culture, then we disagree with the haters.
If you didn’t know, our culture means a whole lot to us. Text-Em-All is a group of passionate people who believe in our product and like to have fun while we work. 
Employees can choose their work preference with the option of an open space or private areas such as huddle rooms, conference rooms, and booths. Our office also includes areas intended for activities unique to our culture; this comes in the form of Jedi ping-pong, an idea board, and a fully stocked kitchen. This type of layout promotes “cultural collisions,” which are chance encounters among employees. The idea is that these collisions will create community, support, and creative thinking. We believe that opportunities for fun give the employees something to look forward to and keep energy high in the workplace.
Our purpose is to positively impact those around us. One way for us to do this is to share our office space. A few weeks ago we shared our new office
with the Todd Tramonte Real Estate Group of Richardson, TX. It’s simple, but powerful actions like this that make our purpose more meaningful and give us a chance to share the way we work. Hopefully inspiring others as they experience our values and culture in action. We believe that the difference between a co-working space and a communal office is the difference between a community and a crowd. It’s a sense of shared values, vision, and outlook.
