How do companies send mass text messages?

Companies like Text-Em-All work with aggregators to deliver SMS messages. An SMS aggregator is the middleman between wireless carriers and the texting platform. Because service providers deal with large volumes of bulk text messaging, they can negotiate discounted pricing for a mass text messaging service. This allows providers to build enhanced features, interfaces, and create mass texting applications that companies can use to deliver messages from the texting platform to their customers.

This differs from messaging apps in that those services don't really send text messages but rather use the internet to deliver messages and require both the sender and recipient to have the app.
Are mass texts expensive?

Beware of unlimited plans over long-codes. As mentioned above, long codes are restricted, so these aren't truly unlimited. Additionally, you should also be on the lookout for hidden charges. Many service providers charge additional fees for extra features, phone numbers, additional users, and premium support. Not to mention a whole host of services that lock you into long-term contracts with fluffy SLAs (service level agreements) that bosses tend to love but provide very little real value.

Is mass texting illegal?

Sending mass texts is legal but comes with important restrictions to protect privacy, like those outlined in the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) of 1991. Consent is key, meaning businesses can only send text messages to people who voluntarily gave their phone number or implied their consent.

Text-Em-All has taken a stand against unwanted texts and we’ve chosen not to allow marketing, promotional, political, or fundraising texts on our platform. Our service also includes features like automatic opt-out to help users comply with regulations.

What are Text-Em-All’s pricing options?

The monthly subscription includes text messaging to your group. Pricing is determined by how many unique phone numbers you have and starts at just $7.50 per month for a group of up to 25. That means you can send as many mass SMS messages as you want to up to 25 contacts.
