How to Find the Right Zipwhip Alternative

Twilio announced its complete acquisition of Zipwhip in July 2021. Following that announcement, Twilio announced in October 2021 that it will be shutting down Zipwhip’s software product completely, leaving any company that uses the software without a messaging platform. Important Timelines

If you’re currently a Zipwhip software user, there are two important dates you need to be aware of when searching for a new communication strategy. 

April 30, 2022: End of Account Changes 

• Zipwhip states: “After this date, Zipwhip customers will no longer be able to make most changes to their accounts, including purchasing upgrades and requesting downgrades.”
• These changes include purchasing more lines and users for your software or downgrading the number of lines and users. Line and user swaps will be available through your admin console until the end of product functionality.

December 1, 2022: End of Product Functionality

• Zipwhip states that “After this date, Zipwhip’s software product will no longer be available on any apps, including desktop and mobile, and web integrations will cease to function at this time.”
• If you don’t do anything to move your service off Zipwhip before the shutdown date in December, you will not be able to access the product, send or receive texts on your business phone number, or extract data, including your contact lists.

#2: Choose a Plan

As stated above, we have two pricing options: Pay-As-You-Go, where you buy credits based on your usage, and Monthly. If you’re not sure which plan is right for you, you can use our pricing calculator to better understand which plan is right for you. 

• Credits: On our credits plan, pre-purchased credits are used to send messages. This allows you to pay only for what you need or buy in bulk for lower pricing. This plan is great for high-volume, or occasional, senders who reach different contacts. 
• Monthly: On our monthly plan, you can subscribe to a monthly plan and reach your contacts as often as you want. Price is based on group size (unique #’s reached monthly), not credits. This plan is excellent for consistent senders who reach the same group(s) each month.

#3: Move Your Contacts From Zipwhip to Text-Em-All

Moving your contacts from Zipwhip to Text-Em-All is a quick and easy process. 

To transfer your contacts: 

1. Export your contacts from Zipwhip
2. Log in to your Text-Em-All account and go to “Contacts.”
3. Click “Upload a file” and import your contacts

#4: Move Your Zipwhip Phone Number to Text-Em-All

We offer two options for your phone number, local and toll-free. However, we recommend switching to a toll-free number for a few reasons.

1. Toll-free numbers allow you to send approved high-volume traffic.
2. Toll-free texting provides better deliverability information.
3. Toll-free texting offers a faster speed of deliverability.
4. Toll-free texting has less strict filtering by carriers.
